Fire Up Your Body If you want to change your body, a part of that involves burning and liberating bodyfat, it’s essential that you understand the concept of Metabolism. You can cut calories and lose weight. It’s a simple mathematical equation: burn more calories than you take in and like magic you lose weight. But what kind of weight are you losing with just a caloric deprived diet? The answer is: Mainly muscle, the very material we need to boost our metabolism which in turn burns more calories. So before you set off and cut your food intake to 1,000 calories, read further on how you can turn your body into an efficient, lean calorie burning machine. Metabolism is your internal fire with calories providing the fuel for the flame…and a calorie is a measure of heat. There are many advertised metabolism boosters that make the claim to increase your ability to lose weight. Most of these are just stimulants that increase your heart rate and a slight temporary increase in heat. We have all met that person who seems to be able to eat anything and “not get fat”. They seem to have a “genetic gift” that we wish we had. But, the fact is we are not born with a metabolism, we are the creators of it. Metabolism is by definition, the speed by which you burn food. One of the essential ingredients to a good metabolism is to eat more frequently- every three to four hours. To understand how metabolism works let’s use a fire as an example. Just as you need to add logs to a fireplace to keep the fire burning, you need to feed the body food to burn the calories from the food to increase the internal fire. If you let the fire die, you lose the heat, and if you do not eat frequently, you lose the internal fire and you reduce the caloric burn. There are three major “players” in the Synergy of the metabolism game. First is amount of muscle you have. Muscle in metabolically active tissue and the more muscle the greater ability you have to burn calories and thus bodyfat. That is why resistance training is so important in the reduction and maintaining of body weight. Second, by eating frequently every three to four hours, you reduce the dreaded “caloric deprivation” which is also known as DIETING. Let make this clear: diets don’t work! Your thyroid can be affected negatively by repeated bouts of dieting. Eat a proper balance of protein, carbs, and essential fats. Third, the types and amount of foods you “ask” your body to digest along with the frequency will stimulate the metabolic process. By replacing high fat foods with the more thermic foods of proteins and carbs, the very act of eating becomes a metabolic stimulus. Each gram of fat yields twice as many calories as an equal portion of carbs or protein. By making this shift in food choices, you will be able to eat more. To stimulate greater caloric burn, you will find with a shifting in food choices from fatty foods to more supportive meals, you eat far more food, often more than twice as much, as your metabolism speeds up! With the right combination of supportive eating, resistance training and aerobic exercise, you soon can be one of those “I CAN EAT ANYTHING AND NOT GET FAT” people! The type of eating I endorse is what I call “Supportive Eating”. This is eating that supports your body’s ability to burn fat, utilize the energy to increase metabolism, and to stay lean. My Body BreakThrough Program will kick start your metabolism and help you to transform your body into your best body ever. Remember- “Live life to the fullest” Back to Home Page |
